Those of you who are new to my blog may not know that I’m on the Crazy 4 Challenges design team. We post a new challenge every week so I encourage you to pop on over and join us! Our challenges can be anything from colour and sketch challenges to inspiration photos and themes. This week we had a wide open theme to simply make a card for World Card Making Day! Super easy right?
I made my card to also satisfy The Paper Players Tic Tac Toe challenge #412. The column I chose included the prompts Green, Any Embossing and sequins/glitter. Sadly and typically, I missed linking up to the challenge in time. Oh well, {insert loud sigh here}. The background was stamped with the Simon Says Stamp Modern Rose Bloom with embossing ink and heat set with white pearl embossing powder. The leaves were cut with a SSS die out of some sheer vellum. I like this particular vellum (sorry it’s really old so I don’t have a manufacturer) because it is so sheer. Two layers filled in a bit more space and looked elegant too.
I went with a simple die cut sentiment to finish the card. The stamps and dies are by PTI; I stamped it in embossing ink and added Gold Perfect Pearls mica powder which sticks to the ink. Don’t forget to add a mist of water to any Perfect Pearls you use as that helps activate the gum Arabic which is in the powder. I cut up some foam adhesive into thin strips and added it to the back of the die cut. I covered every surface so it would help hold the vellum down. To anchor the remaining leaves, I added some sequins placing my adhesive behind them so it would be hidden. Any time you use vellum, it takes some creativity to hide the adhesive. I never use any kind of vellum adhesive, or any other adhesive for that matter, as it always shows at least a bit. It drives me crazy if any shows.
Don’t forget to join us over at the C4C blog! I’d love to see you there!
Enjoy, Rebecca
Beautiful card and love the use of vellum. All the best with your new blog.
