Big Rose Bouquet

I was very inspired by last week’s Fusion challenge. The flowers are so beautiful don’t you agree?

Fusion truck bouquet

My card uses three sets, from Altenew and PTI, to create my own version of the bouquet.

Even though I obviously wasn’t able to create nearly as many flowers as in the bouquet, I tried to recreate the colours found in the bouquet. It’s funny, I rarely try to recreate an inspiration photo but this time I just wanted to try it. The silver that you see at the top is actually the inside of the card. The card base is white but I added a Soft Stone full sized panel inside. It didn’t seem to have enough contrast with the card base so I sponged on some silver ink.

The sparkle from the silver ink was just enough to make this card pop. The colours in this photo are much more like it looks in real life. For some reason the other photo is much more faded looking. Maybe because I forgot my lens hood?

Smile Balloon Card

This week our challenge on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog was to make a birthday card. Well, as many of you know, I don’t celebrate birthdays because of my religion. So I made a happy and fun celebration type card and called it close enough!

smile balloon card

I used the FUSION challenge as inspiration. I love pink and turquoise together and I love pops of metallic colours especially gold. So it seemed like this challenge was made for me! I used two shades each of pink and turquoise ink along gold embossing all using Confetti Toss stamp set (PTI).

The balloon shaker and some of the contents were all cut using PTI balloon shaker dies. I also added some Lucy’s Little Things sequins inside which makes for a fun mix. Using some paper filler for shakers not only gives some variety to your shakers but also saves you some money and uses up some scraps! For final touches I added a Smile die cut, ribbon to suit the sketch, some puffy stickers that were included in the latest SSS card kit and some Wink of Stella glitter pen on the smile and the balloon frame. The puffy stickers look so cute don’t they?

Baby Cards

I was playing along with a couple of challenges and I ended up with two baby cards. The themes and my baby supplies just worked so well together!

giraffe baby welcome

This card is for two challenges, first to use a wild animal for and second to use a die to make a stencil for Make It Monday. Of course, this isn’t such a wild looking wild animal is it?? LOL! The hearts in the background were die cut from masking paper and the negative was used as a stencil for sponging the aqua mist and harvest gold inks. I hand cut the same piece of masking paper to sponge in some spring moss for the ground.

ahoy little sailor

For this card, I was inspired by the latest Fusion challenge which combines a sketch and a lovely nautical bedroom image. And Inspired by… which has an inspiration photo which you can see below. I followed the sketch pretty closely for once using some cardstock and October Afternoon Seaside papers to piece this little sailboat. I should have removed the fish die from the rest using snips before I die cut the sail but I didn’t so I pieced in the fishy too then dubbed this boat the ‘Fishy Cracker’! I had a PTI baby set out from the previous card’s sentiment then saw this one which was so perfect for this card! Funny when things like that happen!

Bold Butterflies

One last teacher thank you card. My 14 yo son didn’t want anything too frilly or teacher-ish this year so I went with a bolder approach.

butterfly sketch

This was inspired by The most recent FUSION challenge.

Bright Butterfly

The sketch really threw me at first! Only one small shape in the corner? Well, I’m not too much of a CAS gal so I had to expand and embellish that one small shape!

I ended up going with some embellies that came with the paper. I was actually lucky enough to win this paper along with some 12×12 paper and two packs of embellies! The tag and clip were in one pack and the other was all die cuts including the butterfly and small banner. I took the reinforcement sticker off, covered the tag in music paper and reapplied the sticker. Then I layered on the butterfly die cut and the messy gold thread. Last I inked the banner (it was tan), stamped the sentiment and added it to the tag along with the tiny strip of black cardstock.

I’m also entering this in the SSS Wednesday Anything Goes challenge.

Love Story Card

I’ve been sick for so long, all of December (I’m still not better), I feel like a stranger to this blog. Thanks to all of you who are still here with me!

love story banner card

I used this week’s Fusion Challenge which happens to be their Anniversary! Congrats on a great year to Fusion! I was inspired by so much from this photo. I’d actually already pinned it from Maggie Holmes’ blog. It was a birthday party backdrop for one of her deliciously adorable daughters.

First Birthday

I decided to use the gold frame, banner, sticks with little flags on them and the overall pinkness as my inspiration. I really wanted to add some flowers and ribbon but decided to leave it as is. anything I envisioned just overwhelmed the design and left it too off balance. BTW, it is a rectangle card. The diagonal lines of the gold-painted sticks make it look like the top is wider than the bottom but it’s an optical illusion. It looks better IRL.

26-One Year Celebration[6]

To make the frame, I deliberately only lightly embossed the shimmery gold cardstock frame. I didn’t want the paper to crack nor warp the thin frame too much. It worked beautifully. The sticks were painted with a gold paint pen.

I’m entering this in the Card Concept Challenge #26. And another Happy Anniversary to the CCC! Yeah, I am so glad I found you. This is my first time even seeing this challenge!

My 6 yo is finishing his gymnastic lessons this week so I made a thank you card for his coach.

Pretty CAS so not much to say. I joined the new challenge called Fusion where they basically have two challenges, a sketch and an inspiration and you can use one or the other or combine them. Then the really nifty part, you can vote on your favourites! Cool right? Click on the graphic below to visit the challenge.
